Tower Column LoadOctober 3rd Fact-of-the-DayAntenna tower column load sometimes is underestimated by amateur designers. Static tower column load is the sum of tower weight, antenna weight, rotator weight, bracket weight, feed line weight, rotator cable weight, guy cable weight, the weight of anything else connected to a tower, and static guy cable load due to guy cable tension. Guy tensioning is especially critical to safety. Excessive guy tension unnecessarily increases tower column load. Too little guy tension risks dangerous tower leaning and mechanical oscillation. ©2004 Tigertek, Inc. All rights reserved. This page was last modified: Sun, 06 Jun 2010 03:36:29 GMT
