Ring Antenna SystemsNovember 3rd Fact-of-the-DayMost vertically-polarized antennas with circular horizontal radiation patterns and high-gain employ vertically-stacked collinear radiators, resulting in tall structures. Similar gain with a substantially-circular radiation pattern in the horizontal plane can be obtained in a short structure by arranging short vertical radiators in concentric rings and feeding them with a uniform progressive phase shift between adjacent radiators in individual rings such that the total phase shift around the circumference of each ring is the same and is a whole number of cycles. ©2004 Tigertek, Inc.
