Resistance Pads

November 5th Fact-of-the-Day

Resistance pads are used primarily as audio-frequency attenuators, although they can be used at radio frequencies, so long as the resistors are non-inductive, distributed capacitance is small, and lead lengths are short. Either T or PI resistor networks can be used and are externally equivalent. However, different resistor values are required with the two designs to achieve the same attenuation. The choice between the two generally is made on the basis of closest-match to standard resistor values. ©2004 Tigertek, Inc. All rights reserved.
