The Importance of ExperimentationMay 27th Fact-of-the-DayExperimenters are thought by many members of the general public to be amateurs, because as they see it, professionals should have all the answers and not need to experiment. Anyone who thinks that doesn't understand that one of the most fundamental principles in science is that the ultimate test of all knowledge is experiment. It is the sole judge of scientific truth. Not only that, experimentation helps to produce new laws to be tested by providing hints of greater knowledge that inspire human imagination. Whether or not new laws from such inspirations are found to be true, new hints from the experiments likely will suggest additional new laws to be tested. Until such time as everything is understood about everything, experimentation will continue to be one of the most important tools of the most advanced professionals. ©2005 Tigertek, Inc.
