Approximate is Completely Wrong PhilosophicallyMay 29th Fact-of-the-Day
Many understandings in electronics, and more generally in all of science, evolved from simple but not precisely true understandings to much more complicated understandings that are now thought to be true, but that likely will be found in the future to only approximate truth. Philosophically it can be argued that approximate is completely wrong, so philosophically much of what is currently thought to be true may be completely wrong. Nonetheless, it happens that approximate understandings can be very useful in developing practical things that work and benefit society. It is known now that Bell, Marconi and other early developers had only approximately true understandings of the technologies they used. Philosophically their understandings were completely wrong. Nonetheless, telephones, radios and other things they developed worked and have benefited society since. ©2005 Martek, International. All rights reserved.
