Carbon Resistor NoiseAugust 19th Fact-of-the-DayResistors composed of carbon granules generate far more noise than thermal agitation noise when current flows through them. The higher noise level results from fluctuations in contract resistances between adjacent carbon granules. Noise voltage due to that cause is proportional to the amount of current flowing whereas thermal agitation noise does not depend on current. ©2004 Tigertek, Inc. All rights reserved.
