Ferrite-Core Temperature Precaution

August 23rd Fact-of-the-Dayy

The inductance of coils wound on ferrite cores change substantially above a certain temperature that depends on the grade of ferrite. High temperatures should be avoided to the extent reasonably practical. Where that isn't practical, the remedy is to determine the highest temperature that will be encountered and then to select a grade of ferrite that exhibits minimal characteristic changes up to that temperature. ©2004 Tigertek, Inc.
