Vertical Tower Member Load

Vertical tower members should be designed to withstand combined compression and bending. The load on an individual vertical member is equal to 1/3 the total column load plus the load due to bending for a triangular tower. The load on an individual vertical member is equal 1/4 the total column load plus the load due to bending for a square tower. The column bending load depends in part on guying. The column action of a tower may be critical if the ratio of the span between guys divided by the face width of a tower is more than 40 for a triangular tower or more than 50 for a square tower. ©2004 Martek International All rights reserved.
