Antenna Effective Height

September 28th Fact-of-the-Day

The effective height of an antenna is the height of the center of radiation above local ground. The center of radiation is the center of the antenna current distribution if the current distribution is vertically symmetrical. Where an antenna has an asymmetrical vertical current distribution the center of radiation is the center of the current moments when viewed from directions near the direction of maximum radiation. (Prior to the mid-1940's effective height had a different meaning.) ©2004 Tigertek, Inc. All rights reserved.
