Cogent is an Internet backbone provider with an extensive network of fiber-optic cables throughout much of the U.S. Yesterday (Thursday, November 17th) some of their cables were cut in Washington D.C and in New Orleans which disrupted Internet traffic to a large number of users from Minnesota to the East Coast. Were these simultaneous cable cuttings in two cities accidents or cyber terrorism?
