Enough is Enough

I tuned into 3840 three years ago at the encouragment of a friend of mine.

I got tired of the circus over a year ago. I got tired of radio checks and audio checks. But that was just me. Doing audio checks IS amatuer radio.

This garbage that pops up on 3840 from time to time is crap. I have been in amatuer radio for years and I have heard stuff like this up and down the band. It gets old and old fast.

Lets face it, we all were or are drawn to 3840 because of Art's noteriety. He is a broadcasting celebrity. He is on the air with us "regular" folks. Art can be kind but can also be an (censored). I guess we all fall into that catagory at some time or another, but Art is a "ham" like the rest of us. He deserves the right to exercise his privilege as a US citizen to get on the ham bands and not be harrassed.

It doesn't matter that I, you, or anyones else thinks he deserves the crap he gets. He does not have to accept it. He usually doesn't !

If Art was in public and suffered the verbal abuse he gets on freqency, somebody would get arrested. Art would also have the right to call constant harrassment stalking. People go to jail and get big fines for this folks !

There has got to be a way under FCC rules or federal law that people who get on for the express purpose of harrasing Art and others on 3840, are in some way in violation of a federal law.

I am NOT Art's biggest fan by a long shot. I question a lot of his motives and his arrogance sometimes. However, he has done nothing personal to me and deserves to not be harrassed by me in any way, shape, or form. Or anybody else for that matter.

Amatuer Radio is a public access thing that is a privilidge and not a right. Much like driving a car on a public road. However, I don't think it is a venue to harrass other people.

I say it is time for the FCC or FBI to step in and halt this. It has come to a point that it is extremley annoying to me and others and it is just not nessessary.

I know I can just move off frequency. In fact, I mostly use 3840 as a tool to see how signals are coming in to my area from the west coast. But again, this is just stupid and needs to stop NOW !

I've never tuned in to 3840, so I don't know much about the history. Can you tell me more about it? Was there ever a golden era before it went downhill?

I will have to see if I can hear W6OBB here in northern California.
