Your Question is too Broad

Your question probably hasn't been answered, because a good answer would be far too long to post to a forum. Before someone can understand how an antenna receives radio signals they must first have a good understanding of what an electromagnetic wave is. Beyond that, there are many different types of receiving antennas that have different circuits.

I hope the experts will give me leave to (over) simplify matters.
But, broadly,
An antenna receives signals in the same way as a dynamo works; an RF (EM wave) cuts a conductor, thus inducing a (very small) voltage in the element/s.

You can check this with a bit of wire and a magnetic compass. Connect a length of wire to a sensitive meter or oscilloscope. Pass a good magnet near the wire and you will see a change in level.
The opposite is to connect a battery via a press-switch, put the compass near the wire and press the button. The compass needle will move.
