What does an UWB antenna project require doing?

by Om-3alawi » 29 Sep 2009, 02:22

Hello there,

I'm really new here and even new on this topic but somehow I'm assigned to this project but don't have any idea about it yet, so can anyone help please or atleast guid me on how to start.

They only gave me that much of information,

The project will use readily-available, utra-wideband radio (UWB) antennas to send a microwave (3.1 - 10.6 GHz) signal over a range of 1 m and detect the return beam. As the time of flight can be measured and hence the phase shift, a simple yet effect radar can be produced.

hope anyone can really help

How much gain will the antenna need and what are its directivity requirements? Wide bandwidth is easy to achieve with low gain, non-directive antennas, but becomes increasingly difficult with increasing gain and directivity.
