Where did everyone in Art Bell's group go?

Regulatory news, special events, DX, contests, products, operating, etc. Basically any Ham Radio topic that is not appropriate for one of the other forums with the exception that flaming, defaming, insulting or otherwise abusing others is not tolerated in any of these forums.

Where did everyone in Art Bell's group go?

by jimg » 15 Apr 2006, 10:58

Haven't heard Mr. Bell on the air in awhile. Or the rest of the gang. Though I operate mostly on VHF, I always enjoyed listening. Occasionally I hear Ben, KD7BCW, briefly on 3847 during the day. So does the group still congregate much anymore and if so, when and where?

"On April 15, 2006 the Coast to Coast website announced Art Bell had gone to the Pillipines and had remarried to Airyn Ruiz, a twenty-something recent college graduate. Airyn Ruiz contacted Art Bell through his peronal e-mail concerning Art Bell's late wife, Ramona. It turns out that Airyn knew one of Mr. Bell's ham-radio friends. He also shocked many listeners when he announced his wedding over the air. He was not planning on telling his fans about the wedding for another year, but decided against this. He will continue to host Coast to Coast from The Philippines through an ISDN connection"

Im sorry and maybe Im in the minority but, I think He has made a mockery of this whole situation.

Again, I could be wrong and actually, I hope I am but, it seems as He has dropped everything and everyone around him. Not that Art owes anyone anything or an explaination for that matter. To me, 4 months is not a long time to make a desicion such as this. I mean (possibly) selling everything, including all his Ham gear, properties and so forth. I guess certain things affect everyone differently.

Just dropping my $.02 !!

You're not alone Bluzman. I hesitate to rush to judgment, because it would be based on ignorance, and not facts, but I am shocked. I just wish that some of Art's Ham radio friends, who may have more detailed information on this, would come on this forum and discuss this a bit. I'm going to tune back in to the Smeter site and see what I can hear.

Well, good for Art, but what freq, when?

by jimg » 16 Apr 2006, 09:08

HEY, GOOD FOR Art. It's his life. I just wanted to know if the rest of the old 3840 crew excluding a few trublemakers still hang. That's all. So pls don't clutter this with some personal judgement of Mr. Bell's behavior.

Art Bell will do what Art Bell wants to do.

But I am unsettled by his recent actions and I am sure his listner
base feels the same way.

To soon and to young.

But then I also understand that he does not or can not be alone and she looks like a sweet girl that will make him very happy. I hope it is not a
lasting relationship

I wish Art the best, but also hope it does not cause his removal from
CtoC. Listners can be fickle.

Ham radio will continue with or without him.
