A "listener queue"

by Blue@Heart » 14 Dec 2005, 05:07

Often times (especially at night) it is difficult to get a spot on the Recievers...

What I'm sugesting (hopefully it's not too difficult to introduce) is a listener queue, where someone wants to listen to salt lake for instance. Their spot in "line" is saved and they are automattically connected when a spot comes open and they are next...

This would guarentee that everyone gets a chance to listen while still ensuring that those that want to listen can, at the moment most people on the site want to listen to the 3840 group, these spots are coveted (on both salt lake and pahrump) it would be nice not to have to get luck to listen...

Thanks for listening, I hope to see this feature whenever the site gets it's next major overhaul,

cheers and 73's

Listener Waiting-Queue Implementation

by admin » 16 Dec 2005, 03:55

Listener queues on each receiver audio stream would be great if there was a way to provide that functionality easily. Unfortunately, because of security considerations standard Internet communication protocols, standard Internet firewalls, and standard NAT (Network Address Translation) systems included in nearly all DSL and cable routers do not allow Internet servers to send Internet clients (users) anything they haven't requested.
