Getting connected

by sgt195 » 30 Aug 2005, 03:58

I have WMP 10 and it is configured properly. When I attempt to listen to one of the receivers and hit the play button nothing happens. I am not getting RF noise; nothing the play button responds but nothing.

When I log on from work I at least get the RF noise :?

It sounds like you are getting the "Full" signal.

If it just says "Ready" at the lower left of the WMP window, that means all available slots are in use. Just keep trying by clicking the play button, or by refreshing the page. You should get a slot within a few minutes...

Does that happen trying to hear all receivers?

by admin » 30 Aug 2005, 05:03

sgt195, does the same thing happen with all the receivers? If so, the problem probably is something other than full streams. All the receiver streams are full from time-to-time, but they rarely are all full simultaneously.

Someone else reported the same problem earlier today. I suggest that he reinstall Windows Media Player and that fixed the problem. Windows Media Player has many different modes of operation. It is not uncommon for it to work correctly in some of those modes and not others. Certain other media players change Windows Media Player configuration settings when they are installed. Others overwrite one or more Windows Media Player files. Microsoft addresses those problems on its website. I suggest that you reinstall WMP to eliminate those possibilities.

Let me know if that doesn

Using LINUX...

by kd5mpm » 04 Jan 2006, 03:48

I am using "LINSPIRE" Linux distro...When listening to KFI640 AM (Leo Laporte & Coast2coast) I can COPY & PASTE the URL in the KKX Media Player, and KFI streams VIA WMP. Is there a way I can LISTEN to SMETER using "LINSPIRE?" (I am awaiting arrival of UBUATU distro , a South African LINUX OS...)

Linux Audio Streaming

by admin » 04 Jan 2006, 06:39

I don't think any Linux audio player is able to play the Microsoft media streams used to stream S-Meter site receiver audio. You can stream KFI640 AM audio because they use an old Microsoft streaming format that is supported under Linux. There is no URL you can copy and paste into a player, because receiver audio streams are privately leased (free of charge) to individual website visitors for one-hour listening periods.
