Preventive Antenna Maintenance Saturday, November 17, 2007

The local weather forecast is for calm winds and unseasonably warm temperatures this weekend changing to much colder temperatures, wind and snow as a storm front moves in Monday evening. I am going to take advantage of what may be the last good weather of the season to lower the Salt Lake City receiving site HF delta antenna and inspect the wire, insulators, pulleys, ropes, and rope anchors to see if anything needs repair or replacement before winter.

The antenna is normally 100 feet high. I won't drop it all the way to ground level unless I find something wrong, so it won't completely stop working. Performance will just be less than normal for a while around midday while I am doing that.

Delta Loop Antenna Back at Original Height

by admin » 18 Nov 2007, 23:20

No problems were found when the Salt Lake City receiving site delta loop antenna was lowered and inspected yesterday. It was hoisted back to its normal 100 foot height a few minutes after inspection.
