The main loop antenna used by the Salt Lake City receiver will be lowered to the ground for a few hours today to make installation of a new 110-foot vertical antenna easier. Receiver performance obviously will be poor during that time. It is difficult to estimate how long the loop antenna will be on the ground, but it will be raised back to its normal height sometime prior to local sunset (midnight UTC).

The loop antennas was not only on the ground this afternoon, it was disconnected from the receiver for a couple hours. It was reconnected and raised back in the air about an hour before sunset.
