Comparison review - IC756 ProIII vs. FT2000

Postby BobB » 24 Nov 2006, 18:08

I'm preparing to buy a new HF transceiver. Has anyone used both or seen a review that compares the IC756 ProIII to the new Yaesu FT2000? They are comparable in price. I can read the manufacturers' performance specs for each; but what about the performance and general usability (including simple convenience features) as perceived by those who've used both?

Any links or personal opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I haven't seen a formal review article, but some user comments about the IC756 ProIII vs. the FT2000 have been posted over at http://www.eham.net/forums/StationBuilding/2470.

Thanks, Matt for the link. Looks as though the folks involved in that discussion collectively prefer the ProIII. In particular, the comment that new owners would be "Beta testers" for the FT2000 caught my attention. Good point!

I'll continue to watch that discussion. In the meantime I'm still open to all personal observations - both pro and con - about the ProIII and FT2000 rigs. I'd like to make my decision before 12/31, when the price breaks (and free power supply offer for the ProIII) expire.
