Medium-Frequency Traveler's Information StationsTraveler's Information Stations (also known as Highway Advisory Radio Stations) are used by governmental organizations and park authorities in the United States to transmit information to motorists.Most Traveler's Information Stations transmit in the U.S. Standard AM Broadcast Band (530 kHz to 1700 kHz) using amplitude modulation, although low-power, non-commercial stations now may be authorized for service in the U.S. FM Broadcast Band using frequency modulation. Traveler's Information Stations in the AM Broadcast Band are limited to ten watts of transmitter output power and transmitting antennas cannot exceed 15 meters (49.2 feet) in height.
