Falling Ice

September 22nd Fact-of-the-Day

Ice tends to form on antennas and supporting towers under certain conditions of temperature and humidity. Ice falling from high structures can seriously damage to roofs, automobiles, coax cables, and other things below. It is especially dangerous to people below. In areas where heavy ice tends to form, high antenna structures either should be positioned so that falling ice cannot hit anything or anyone below, or a sufficiently strong overhead ice shield should be installed to protect them. ©2004 Martek International All rights reserved.
