Helical Antenna PatternsSeptember 23rd Fact-of-the-Day
Helical antennas can be made to have maximum radiation either in axial directions (end-fire) or in directions normal to the axis (side-fire) depending on the circumference and pitch of the helix. Helix dimensions must be small compared to a wavelength for the radiation to be normal to the axis. That requirement restricts the bandwidth that practical resonant side-fire helical antennas can have. ©2004 Martek International All rights reserved.
